MD [HOM] PSYCHIATRY, MSc in Psychotherapy and Counselling

Dr. Swapna Kamath is a Psychiatrist and practicing Homoeopath. She has completed her BHMS from the YMT Homoeopathic Medical College and her MD in Homoeopathy with special subject Psychiatry from the Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Homoeopathic Institute. She is a trained counsellor and psychotherapist.

Dr. Swapna’s career choices reflect a desire to unleash the beaten path and do something new. Her focus on Homoeopathy in Child Psychiatry is a brave new step towards breaking new ground in clinical and research work. Homoeopathy’s potential in psychiatry is catching on in a big way and so is its potential in childhood psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Swapna has a background of training and working with one of the finest Homoeopathic institutions in the country. During her MD and her stint as a Medical Officer at the Palghar Rural Homoeopathic Hospital, she has worked in both general psychiatry and child mental health. She was the co-creator and research officer of the 'School Mental Health Project' that is currently being implemented the Rural Homoeopathic Hospital, Palghar. She also worked in the psychiatric clinics and in-patient departments where she has handled a variety of cases, all treated with Homoeopathy.

Her chief projects at present involve developing training modules and programmes for various mental health needs. She conducts workshops for students, teachers and parents on various topics including Mental Health Awareness, Stress Management, Life Skills Training and disorders like ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities and dealing with physical illnesses. She has also incorporated play as a form of therapy while working with children .

Her goal is to use her knowledge and experience of mental health for improving the health of the individual and thereby of the community. She aims to create an ideal environment for an individual through disseminating knowledge and creating awareness.
Masters in Occupational Therapy

Dr. Dhara Desai is a registered Occupational Therapist with the All India Occupational Therapist’s Association (AIOTA) as well as the Maharashtra OT/PT Council. She has received a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from T.N.M.C and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital (MUMBAI) in Developmental Disabilities.

In addition to mainstream education, Dr. Dhara has achieved certificates in Sensory Integration, Autism, Clinical observations in Clinical reasoning, Handwriting Intervention & Handling Techniques, Braingym movements in children. She also conducts workshops and lectures for parents and children at our centre.She has been working with children having Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Learning difficulties, Handwriting difficulties, Down’s Syndrome, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Sensory Dysfunction, academic difficulties etc. since 2007.

Currently, she is an active team member at Inclusive Centre of Education. She evaluates and designs customised therapy programmes as a Senior Occupational Therapist in our Interdisciplinary team. She also provides home visits to clients in special cases.

Smita Nair has done her B.A in psychology from National College in Bandra and then did her diploma in Special education from Dilkush special school in the year 1991, there after she started actively working with children having different problems like autism, dyslexia, Down syndrome etc. She was attached to Institute of Genetics in Hyderabad over 2 years where she was a remedial educator and dealt with children having different mental disabilities. She also conducted summer camps for them in Hyderabad.

She continued her activities after shifting to Mumbai and worked as a remedial educator for Rainbow centre of education for over 2 years where she had the opportunity to work with autistic, dyslexic and Down syndrome children. She worked in the capacity of remedial educator in Yashodham School in goregaon and Billabong high in thane.

She has worked for the same cause with Able centre of Education in the capacity of Trustee and also in the capacity of remedial educator for over 4 years. She is now attached with IPH in Thane where she is imparting remedial education to children with different problems. She is working in Inclusive centre of Education which is an NGO and a registered trust in the capacity of remedial educator and a trustee. She now has a wealth of experience gained by dealing with autistic, dyslexic and Down syndrome children for over 18 years. She is also a Hypnotherapist.
Special Educator

Vijay Nair had started assisting his wife when she was conducting summer camps for children with autism, dyslexia and Down syndrome. He is a science graduate with an engineering background.

He started working with these kids passionately and subsequently with this experience gained over 18 years has now started imparting subject remedial for kids up to 10Th class. The children are taught differently by helping them to use logic more often and help them in understanding things by reasoning. He discourages rote learning because this does not increase the mental growth in children and uses innovative and new techniques making it easier for children to understand.
Audiologist and Speech and Language Therapist. M.A.S.L.P

Pradnya has done her Masters in Audiology and Speech Therapy from Nair Hospital (T.N Medical College) and she specializes working with children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, ADHD and Hearing impairment. By using qualitative and quantitative assessment measures and standardized tests she analyzes and diagnoses the nature and extent of the speech and language impairment.She thereby designs individualized plans fitting to the childs needs.

Children with stammering, stuttering, swallowing difficulty,Aphasia, Dysarthria are also helped by the therapy. Various oro-motor exercises, muscle strengthening techniques are taught to the parents in order to enhance the therapy.. She thereby augments communication techniques encouraging children to make sounds, use their voices and improve language skills.
Physical Trainer

Rohan is physical fitness trainer. His keen interest for working with children brought him to associate with Vishesh. Rohan designs age appropriate physical programmes for children which enhances their motor development, flexibility, balance skills, body awareness and fosters confidence encouraging better social skills.

Thus with the combination of movement, music, learning and cooperation children enjoy playing actively and exercising in a group. With his sensitive coaching and parental support, kids with autism and other special needs gain confidence while getting fit and having fun.

Nupur Parikh and Janhavi Waravdekar have done their B.A is Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma in School Counselling from S.N.D.T University.

They are associated as assistant teachers and educators working with children with special needs for enhancing their learning, pre-vocational and vocational skills.

They help to disseminate quality training to children for learning skills, important on a day to day basis thereby promoting self sufficiency and an independent living.
